A lot has changed since I started my fitness journey most important, my overall goal. In the past 3 years, the most weight I've lost was 127lbs. Even though that number fluctuates, I am very proud of it and the hard work I put into it. My new goal is to become healthier and stay that way to keep my Multiple Sclerosis under control. I have no desire to medicate myself, just to get fit and stay that way.

Here's the next assignment from the "Caveman". I was a bit surprised to see another email from him this morning. Hoping you are all getting something out of this :)
Hey Proud CavePeeps!
Are you walking around without enough water to flush out your system and remove toxins from your mucsles? Here's an easy way to check...
Using your thumb, press down on your shin midway between your knee and ankle for several seconds... when you release if there is an indent that lasts for more than a second or two chances are you're dehydrated.
Within the next 24 hours and continuing for the next 5 days your objective is to drink 1/2 an ounce of water per pound of body weight... that means if you weigh 200 lbs you must 100 ounces of water daily.
Here's a simple way to keep track daily... use the same size container and keep track of how many ounces you've consumed... for me, I find drinking carbonated Perrier or Arrowhead work good and I drink 4 per day. Good tasting and easy to keep track of.
(a sneaky trick -- drink at least 8 oz upon waking prior to breakfast)
So... here's how we score this contest... just go to the Cavepage daily and upload your current body weight and the amount of ounces consumed.
Go and drink up!
Stay Strong. Stay Paleo!
- Caveman
PS. - drinking water will help with recovery from the workouts (yes- there WILL be more!).
PPS. You can only count water for this phase of the contest.

I'm excited to say I did the thumb test and I am not dehydrated. I increased my water intake a while ago and it has really made a big difference.

50 Day Update...Day 2.
Here's more about the 50 Day Challenge:
Now - You and I are adults and know no one is watching but cutting corners and cheating range of motion will add up to a LOSS OF FITNESS down the road.
'Nuff said...
Now.. you have 24 hours to get this done and post it on the Cavepage...
Oh yeah - get used to writing stuff down... studies show the actual act of recording what you do affect the outcome.
So post your score (this is a game-is right?) and then journal it.
Also - what is your THEME SONG?
Here's mine:

Burpees, really? Yuck., even though my burpees are better, still Yuck! I haven't done them since my shoulder is sore. I'm not about to do burpees for 5 minutes and make my shoulder worse....I don't want it to interfere more than it already does with my regular workouts.
Speaking of regular workouts, Brent, our trainer, did evaluations and made videos of everyone doing 16 or 17 different exercises. He reviewed mine today...what a great thing to see...don't get me wrong it wasn't pretty, but I learned a lot from it.
After we reviewed the evaluation and realizing how much more work I have to do as far as form and intensity, I decided to put more focus on that and less on my diet. I have been so obsessed with diet that and it seems to be working against me. I KNOW everything I need to do, at this point the way and what I eat should just come natural to me. Its worth a shot.
BAMF CavePeeps!!!
An important ingredient to being more in touch with our ancestors is...
MOVEMENT...
So this challenge is going to be used twofold.
First - it's a great workout that requires NO EQUIPMENT.
Second - we're going to use it as a baseline and return to it down the road as a measure of progress.
You're goal is to get as many burpees in 5 minutes... so, get a timer or a friend who can time you (heck maybe they will want to go 2nd) and count your reps watch this video for the standards and keep yourself to those standards every rep...

50 Day Paleo Challenge...
Looks like this Paleo challenge is underway beginning tomorrow. I received an email today with some insight that I wanted to share as promised. A few of you have asked about so I wanted to make sure you received the information. Give it a shot...you have nothing to lose and such great things to gain. It's tough but if you stay focused you will be successful!
Here's the email I received today:

Hey CavePeeps...
Over the next 50 days the challenge is to be as "in" as you could be... some of what I ask you to do will be easy, stuff you might have done already and had some success... and other stuff may be realllly challenging, take you out of your comfort zone and make you want to quit... however if you stick to it, dig down deep, you'll be much better off.
Here's the first challenge... Clean!
Any item that isn't considered Paleo must leave you home, car, or office space (that you control) within the next 24 hours. I want you to look into the nooks and crannies of your kitchen and toss out all the small packets of ketchup, equal, candies and gum... and of course the big stuff like the Haagen Dazs in the freezer.
Post to the Facebook Cavepage DONE so you can hold yourself accountable...
Finally - keep track of how many days you stay on track. Simply open an excel spreadsheet and write down what you did that day (I know I'm asking for a lot).
At the end of the 50 days let's see how many days you stayed "in" the challenge.
Tomorrow's SNEAK PEEK:

Although I was really looking forward to this I am not sure if I'll be able to stick it out for 50 days. I've experienced a few challenges lately that I am really struggling with and having trouble getting passed, I'm not sure a challenge like this would be the best thing for me. Right now I'm focusing on getting my eating back under control and considering different resources that will help me get through some things. I'll attempt the challenge, just take it a day at a time, and see how I feel each day...I'll keep you posted on my progress and please let me know how you are doing as well. I would love to hear about it.

Time to take a steep back...and away...
Things have been hectic in my mind yet life has been quiet around me. After thinking this weekend about things that transpired recently I really need to stop and take a step back. I think the time may have come to re-group and come up with a new strategy.
You may not be hearing from me for a little while; when I return I'm praying that I will have nothing but positive and exciting experiences to share!

THANK YOU GOD for getting me through this week...
It's been a very emotionally exhausting week for me; I am truly thankful I got through it. Looking forward to a nice weekend which will consist of celebrating Justin's birthday, baseball, and softball. I would love to get to the Flowertown Festival this weekend but I'm not so sure its going to happen.
After this week I'm thinking therapy may soon be needed. I'm worried that what I experienced this week has caused a big setback. I need to get pass this quickly before something else happens that really upset me; I don't want this compounded with anything else that may pop up.
I owe a special thanks to a couple great people who talked me through a time when I felt like I failed. I can't tell you how much I appreciate and love you :)
Trying to sort something out about getting back on track...my workouts have been pretty good all week. I'm really focusing on pushing myself through and not stalling. I need to get my head on straight so I can get back on track with the diet. I have a big problem getting back on track, at times it takes weeks. I cant let myself go further than a few days;a week at the most. I need to push, push, push myself.
